Special mention
The process begins with the definition of two large architectural benchmarks, able to mark the distinction between the city and the countryside.
Beside this frames we proposed a new fabric inspired by the existing one, bounded by a diagonal axe which connects the metro station “Porto di Mare” to the farmhouse “Cascina Grande”, as portal to the rural context.
The project clearly refers to the San Rocco district proposed by Giorgio Grassi and Aldo Rossi in Monza, a project developed in 1966 for a contest, and that has never been built. The use of the square as a benchmark evokes the idea to relate the old fabric with the new one, as a physical and conceptual connection.
